for many years from 1978 till 2001 pakistani state was directly involved in training,sponsoring,abetting,in short serving as the grand base of insurgents trying to remove the de facto government of afghanistan.
later pakistan was openly sponsoring taliban in afghanistan.
all of a sudden after 9/11 when kicked by USA Pakistani state became an opponent of Jihad , military action was initiated by musharraf in 2003 in waziristan just to please the americans.
whats so surprising if another power supports insurgents now fighting against pakistani state.after all the pakistani state was also sponsoring insurgents all along in afghanistan from 1978 to 2001.
