Bombay Pakistan and the World

In my assessment, this incident could involve individuals from diverse nationalities. If incidents of the past are to be considered, them even a remote Pakistani connection is but obvious.

Having been put into the box, Pakistan after this Bombay incident could be forced into the corner of the box.

If Kiani and Co complies further, we head for a Place de la Bastille.

There are parallels to the attack on the Indian Parliament in 2001. If there is mobilisation by India to exert pressure on Pakistan, the consequences for Pakistan without ever going to war would still be far worse than 2001. Pakistan would be forced to pull troops from the western front to the east as it did in 2001. Even then, I was the sole voice pleading that we should call the bluff and not unhinge. This unhinging allowed the entire backwash of Afghanistan violence to flow into Pakistan and hence the FATA situation.

This time round, it may result into militant control of NWFP and far worse. Karachi may follow on lines of MQM-Pashtun divide resulting in the port city blocked. Supplies from Iran could easily be cut off by the BLA.

From the point of view of National Power, Pakistan is in no position to call the bluff other than showing desperation to the extent of an unambiguous nuclear statement. However, seeing the entire matrix, this may not happen unless the people of Pakistan revolt and there is a real revolution. But all revolutions have a history of being hijacked.

Realistically, Pakistan is in an ‘all loose situation’. Our national leadership including the Army Chief do not measure up to it. Then what? Pakistan will remain a rudderless derelict ship loaded with a nuclear cargo complying to every crest and wave till something happens.

Perhaps the biggest hope will be providence. In that case, the backwash will flow into India and that must be realised by both India and USA. Then the war would have just begun. 9/11 and Bombay would just seem to be  preliminaries.

  1. Another incidence that must be considered is the execution of Bali Bombers. The similarity lies in killing of foreigners. The two could be linked.

  2. Few weeks back there was article on islamabadobserver, is the Indian next pig to be slaughtered. I will suggest you to have a look. The situation can be otherwise as well.

There is 160 million Pakistani’s, some of them exploding bombs in our own streets and some playing in hands of CIA and RAW in Afghanistan. If there is some Pakistani or a Pakistani organization have some involvement to some extent, it wont make a big difference. Question is about Pakistani institutions, none of intelligence agency is going to believe that any Pakistani agency can make this blunder at this point of time.

There can be several reasons and interest groups and it would earlier to say that how things unfold. But certainly I dont see any serious impact on Pakistan. This is not 2001, India donot afford any adventure otherwise the economic bubble and slogan of rising India would go in to drain as quick as anything.

May be we can see a change in Islamabad because of stupidity shown by government.

  3. Indian naval official will not rule out Somali pirates role

KOCHI: A top Indian naval official has said that he would not rule out the role of Somali pirates in the terror strikes in Mumbai in view of the
recent action by the Navy against the sea bandits in the Gulf of Aden.

Asked whether there can be any connection between the pirates and the attacks in Mumbai, Vice Admiral Sunil K Damle, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, said such a thing cannot be ruled out.

“I cannot say but I will not rule it out. I cannot say whether there is connection or not. All I am saying is that we very strongly suspect such a thing can happen,” he told reporters on board the INS Tir.

“It is a fact that our action against the Somali pirates in the recent past has got the Indian Navy into focus particularly in that area”, he said, adding this also brought in a danger…Indian Navy being targeted by these people also in addition to the terrorists,” he said.

“These bad elements unfortunately have a fair amount of illegal money at their disposal. Even if Somali pirates were not taking direct action against us, there is every possibility of them pumping in the money into such organisations which are capable of taking terrorist action against us”, he said.

On reports that the attackers had sneaked in to Mumbai through sea routes, he said “we have already started investigating the vessels which are considered suspicious on the west coast, particularly in the vicinity of Mumbai”.

He said the Navy has stepped up security not only as a result of what is happening in Mumbai. “We have already taken security measures because we feel they could be target of those who feel threatened by the naval action. We have tightened various kinds of security measures”, he said.

AS WE SEE IT , BY WE I MEAN MYSELF AND SOME OF MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE SERVED IN KEY MILITARY POSITIONS ,THE SCENARIO MAY HAVE BEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS:—

1-STRATEGIC AIM OF THE WHOLE ATTACK OF THE THIRD PARTY:—

CREATE A SITUATION LEADING TO AN INDIAN MILITARY MOBILISATION AGAINST PAKISTAN -THIS COULD BE FOR VARIOUS FURTHER AIMS-I.E PRESSURISE PAKISTAN TO APPEASE A MAJOR POWER-WIN GREATER CONCESSIONS FROM PAKISTANI GOVERNMENT ETC.

2-THIRD PARTY WHICH MOST LIKELY IN THIS CASE IS A STATE ACTOR PENETRATES A PAKISTANI OR INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST GROUP , POSING AS A PAKISTANI STATE INTELLIGENCE AGENCY OR AS REPRESENTATIVE OF AN INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST ISLAMISTS GROUP.

3-THE ACTION IS BASED IN PAKISTAN AND PAKISTANI TERRITORY IS USED COVERTLY.

    4-THE ACT IS CARRIED OUT

SUCH ACTIONS HAVE BEEN DONE IN HISTORY BEFORE ,KNOWN AS AGENT PROVOCATEURS TO ACHIEVE CERTAIN OBJECTS.SUCH ACTIONS WERE DONE BY THE US DOD IN 1960S ,BY CIA,BY MOSSAD,BY ALGERIAN INTELLIGENCE,BY INDIAN INTELLIGENCE IN KASHMIR,BY PAKISTANI INTELIGENCE IN SINDH AND PARTICULARLY KARACHI PARTICULARLY IN 1985-1996.

WE ARE NOT DEFENDING PAKISTAN OR ANY RELIGION.I AM NOT A RELIGIOUS MAN AT ALL BUT THAT DOES NOT PREVENT ONE FROM BEING REASONABLE !

I HAVE ALLOWED A VERY EXTREME COMMENT FROM A HINDU EXTREMIST HERE ON THE SITE.THIS HAS BEEN DONE TO ILLUSTRATE THE MINDSETS !

  5. Indian navy is not that feared in Somalia. Just recently, they sunk a Thai vessel thinking they were pirates. Then they concocted evidence.

  6. We need to investigate, how violence suddenly surged in Karachi?

  7. 1. There wont be any mobalisation, as it will hurt Indian economy so badly which they do not afford. I am of the opinion that this all hue and cry by India is for domestic consumption.

    2. Violence in Karachi has nothing to do with India, MQM and ANP were flexing muscles for a while. When agencies tell them to shut up, both dogs will sit obediently.

Whatever, a change in Islamabad is necessary, these clowns in PM/President House are simply unable to handle foreign affairs.
